Common questions about how Sheetminer works, security, and troubleshooting.
Where are my documents stored?
Documents you add to a sheet stay in your Google Drive. Sheetminer doesn’t create a separate copy of the file outside your Drive - it reads the document to process it, and keeps a reference back to it for extraction and Inspect.
Does Sheetminer edit my original documents?
No. Every extraction tool (Text, Sum, Table, and AI Snip, plus Search) is read-only against the source document. Sheetminer writes extracted values into your sheet; the source PDF or image is never modified.
Can I use Sheetminer on documents already in a shared Drive?
Yes. The Google Drive picker in Add files shows anything you have access to, including shared drives and files shared with you individually, subject to your normal Drive permissions.
Why is a Table Snip or AI Snip extraction taking a while?
Table Snip and AI Snip do more processing per extraction than Text or Sum Snip, since they detect table structure or match multiple custom fields at once. On longer documents or lower-quality scans this can take longer than a simple box extraction. If an extraction seems stuck, close the Snip extract window and try again - the document is already processed at that point, so a second attempt is typically much faster.
What does a low confidence score in Search mean?
Search assigns each match a confidence score based on how closely it found the cell’s value in the selected documents. A low score usually means the value appears in a different format in the source document (a different date format, different rounding, extra characters) or wasn’t found at all - review these matches individually before confirming them.
Can I remove a document without deleting it from Drive?
Yes. Removing a document from the Documents list in the sidebar only detaches it from that sheet - it has no effect on the file in Google Drive.
