Getting Started

Install Sheetminer, open it inside a Google Sheet, and add your first documents.

Sheetminer is a Google Sheets add-on that extracts structured data from PDFs, scans, and images directly into your spreadsheet, with every value linked back to the exact spot it came from in the source document.

Install the add-on

Sheetminer installs from the Google Workspace Marketplace like any other Sheets add-on. Once installed, open any Google Sheet and go to Extensions → Invoice & Bank Statement PDF OCR with Audit Trail → Open to launch the sidebar.

The sidebar

The sidebar has three tabs:

  • Extract - add documents from Google Drive and run Text, Sum, Table, or AI Snip against them.
  • Inspect - click any cell Sheetminer populated to see the original source document, with the exact location highlighted.
  • Search - point a range of existing values at a set of documents and let Sheetminer find and link the matching sources automatically.

Add your first document

From the Extract tab, click Add files. This opens a Google Drive picker scoped to your Drive - select one or more PDFs or images and click Upload. Sheetminer processes each document (OCR plus layout parsing) before it’s available for extraction; a Processing label shows on the document while this runs, usually a few seconds per page.

Once a document finishes processing, it appears in the Documents list with a checkbox. Checked documents are what the current extraction (Snip or AI Snip) will run against.

Your first extraction

With a document uploaded and a cell selected in the sheet, click Extract. This opens the Snip extract window, which defaults to the Text tab. Draw a box over any value in the document preview and Sheetminer reads it and shows it in the Extracted value panel. Click Insert into Sheet to write it into the destination cell shown under Destination.

That’s the core loop: select a cell, draw a box, insert. The next few pages cover each extraction type in detail.
